Terms of Service

The rules and guidelines that govern your use of GPA HackClub Community. Built for learning, built with respect.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the GPA HackClub Community platform operated by Green Point Academy. Please read these Terms carefully before using the Platform. They form a legally binding agreement between you and us.

This is a community platform for educational purposes. We expect all members to act with integrity, respect, and responsibility. Violations of these terms may result in account suspension or termination.

Acceptance of Terms

Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using the GPA HackClub Community platform, website, and related services (the "Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Platform.

Eligibility

The Platform is intended for students of Green Point Academy and their approved community members. By using the Platform, you represent that you meet the eligibility requirements and have the authority to enter into these Terms.

Updates

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated through the Platform or by email. Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

User Accounts

Accurate Information

You must provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating your account. You are responsible for keeping your account information up to date at all times.

One Account Per Person

Each user is permitted to maintain only one account on the Platform. Creating multiple accounts, fake accounts, or accounts that impersonate others is strictly prohibited and may result in immediate termination.

Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. If you suspect unauthorized access, notify us immediately at admin@gpahackclub.com.

Community Guidelines

Respectful Behavior

We are committed to maintaining a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment. Treat all community members with dignity and respect, regardless of their background, skill level, identity, or opinions.

No Harassment

Harassment, bullying, intimidation, threats, or any form of unwanted conduct directed at other members is strictly prohibited. This includes offensive language, personal attacks, and any behavior that creates a hostile environment.

No Spam

Do not post repetitive, irrelevant, or unsolicited content, including advertisements, promotional materials, or links to external services not approved by the community leadership.

No Cheating

Academic integrity is core to our values. Do not plagiarize code, submit work that is not your own, use unauthorized resources during events, or engage in any form of academic dishonesty.

Intellectual Property

User Content Ownership

You retain full ownership of all original content you create and share on the Platform, including code, projects, posts, comments, and other materials. We do not claim ownership over your work.

License to Display

By sharing content on the Platform, you grant GPA HackClub Community a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, reproduce, and distribute your content solely for the purpose of operating and promoting the Platform and community.

Respect Others' IP

Do not share content that infringes on the intellectual property rights of others, including copyrighted code, proprietary designs, or trade secrets. Always give proper attribution when referencing others' work.

Projects and Resources

Educational Purpose

All projects, resources, tutorials, and learning materials shared on the Platform are intended for educational purposes. They are provided to help community members learn and grow as developers.

No Warranty

Projects and resources are provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that shared code is free of bugs, security vulnerabilities, or other issues. Use shared materials at your own discretion.

Contribution Terms

When you contribute to community projects, your contributions are subject to the specific license terms of each project. Unless otherwise stated, contributions are made under the same open-source license as the project.

Events and Attendance

RSVP Commitment

When you RSVP for an event, you are making a commitment to attend. Accurate RSVP counts help us plan resources, seating, food, and materials for all attendees.

Cancellation Policy

If you are unable to attend an event you have RSVP'd for, please cancel your RSVP as early as possible. Repeated no-shows without cancellation may affect your ability to RSVP for future events.

Event Conduct

All community guidelines apply to events, both online and in-person. Event organizers reserve the right to remove anyone who disrupts the event or violates community standards.

XP and Achievements

Gamification System

GPA HackClub Community features an experience points (XP) and achievement system designed to recognize and reward active community participation, learning milestones, and contributions.

No Monetary Value

XP, badges, achievements, and any other in-platform recognition have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged for cash, goods, or services. They are purely motivational tools.

Fair Play

Do not attempt to manipulate, exploit, or game the XP system through automated scripts, fake accounts, or any other means. Such behavior undermines community integrity and may result in account penalties.

Prohibited Activities

Hacking and Exploitation

Attempting to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Platform, other user accounts, or underlying infrastructure is strictly prohibited. This includes SQL injection, XSS attacks, and any form of penetration testing without explicit authorization.

Impersonation

Impersonating any person, entity, or community member, or falsely claiming affiliation with GPA HackClub Community, Green Point Academy, or any related organization.

Illegal Content

Posting, sharing, or linking to content that violates applicable laws or regulations, including but not limited to content that is hateful, violent, sexually explicit, or promotes illegal activities.

Commercial Spam

Using the Platform for unsolicited commercial purposes, including advertising products or services, multi-level marketing, cryptocurrency promotions, or any form of commercial spam.

Termination

Ban Policy

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at our discretion for violations of these Terms, community guidelines, or behavior that is harmful to the community. Serious violations may result in immediate, permanent bans.

Appeal Process

If your account has been suspended or terminated, you may appeal the decision by contacting admin@gpahackclub.com within 14 days of the action. Include your account details and a description of why you believe the action should be reconsidered.

Effect of Termination

Upon termination, your right to access and use the Platform ceases immediately. We may retain certain data as required by law or for legitimate operational purposes. You may request data export before your account is permanently deleted.

Limitation of Liability

Educational Platform

GPA HackClub Community is an educational platform operated by Green Point Academy. It is provided on a best-effort basis by the community, for the community. We make no representations about the suitability or reliability of the Platform.

No Guarantees

We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, or the accuracy of any content shared on the Platform. We are not liable for any loss of data, revenue, or other damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Platform.

Maximum Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, GPA HackClub Community and Green Point Academy shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of the Platform.

Governing Law

Applicable Laws

These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the applicable jurisdiction. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the appropriate courts of that jurisdiction.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable.
